Scouts need a hand!

The Logan Village Scout Group has put a call out for volunteers from the local community to keep the organisation running. The group has a long history in the local area, but dwindling support from adult volunteers to assist with the supervision of activities and support the administration of the group has the group facing the prospect of having to close the doors next month unless more people can come on board and share the load.

The group outlines some of the areas they need assistance with which includes;

Group Leader

The Group Leader essentially manages the Adult Leaders. Conducts Group strategy meetings with Section Leaders, Executive Committee Members as well as Parents, these meetings would be held monthly. The Group Leader is also called upon to speak with potential new members and their families, thus completing any relevant paperwork associated with joining the Group . Another task for the Group Leader is to present Induction Badges and sometimes achievement badges to the youth members. No Scouting experience is necessary, must be able to obtain a volunteer blue card ( organised by Scouts ). Some computer work would be involved but help and support is always on hand.

Joey Scout Leaders ( 3 required )

A Joey Scout Leader looks after our youngest group of youth members, they are boys & girls aged 6 to 7.5 years of age. Joey Scouts runs one night a week ( any night of your choice ) for an hour. Activities include cooking, craft, fun games, nature bush walking, visiting a fire station and more. All training is provided, no Scouting experience is required, must be able to obtain a volunteer blue card ( organised by Scouts ). Some computer work would be involved but help and support is always on hand. The Logan Village Group currently don’t have a Joey section running as they have no Leaders but get enquirers each week so it wouldn’t take much to get it up and running.
Cub Scout Leaders ( 2 required )

A Cub Scout Leader looks after girls & boys aged 7.5 to 10.5 years old. Cub Scouts run weekly on a Thursday night from 6:30pm until 8pm. Activities include cooking, craft, fun games, nature bush walking, camping and beginning of leadership skills. All training is provided, no Scouting experience is required, must be able to obtain a volunteer blue card ( organised by Scouts ). They currently have 2 Leaders and 1 Adult helper for this section with approximately 10 Scouts but this section is growing with some Cub Scouts progressing up in the next few months. All training is provided, no Scouting experience is required, must be able to obtain a volunteer blue card ( organised by Scouts ). Some computer work would be involved but help and support is always on hand.
